My cousin passed away suddenly almost 2 weeks ago. My aunt and uncle found themselves laying to rest their first born son, who was only 30 years old. No one knows why at this point. Minimal questions have been answered and we are not sure if we will ever have all the answers to our questions. My heart breaks for them. As a mother of 4 children, I cannot fathom the thought of losing one of my children. The death of a child is beyond tragic. I believe it is the deepest grief and sorrow that anyone could ever face. Through this heartbreaking time, we are reminded that God does not promise that we will never experience tragedy in our lives, but He does promise to be present with us through it.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4
It is times like these that we are reminded of just how precious the gift of life is. Each day is a gift from God. We do not deserve this gift and we should not expect this gift. It is because of God's love and grace that we may receive this gift.
